Inspections
All construction for which a permit is required shall be inspected and remain accessible and exposed until approved by a City Building Inspector. The permit must be onsite at all times throughout the construction process. A set of City approved plans are required to be onsite for each inspection.

Scheduling an Inspection
It is the property owner's responsibility to make sure that all required inspections are made on a project, including both in-progress inspections and the final inspection. The contractor, however, may schedule the inspections and be the one on-site for each required inspection.
Inspection requests can be made daily from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Requests made before 3:30 pm will be scheduled for the next working day, any requests made after 3:30 pm will be scheduled for the day after the next working day.

Please have the following information when requesting an inspection:
- Permit Number
- Site Address
- Requested type of inspection (located on the back of permit card)
- Date of inspection request
- Contact information of the person requesting inspection, including their phone number
- Any pertinent information regarding inspection
Inspection times vary depending on the work load. Inspections typically are performed between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The City of Temecula Building Inspectors are available from 7:00 am to 8:00 am Mon-Fri. You may call your inspector the day of your inspection to obtain a window of time.
Special/Deputy Inspectors
The City of Temecula, under the provisions of Chapter 17 of the 2007 California Building Code, has established that certain types of work are subject to Special Inspection. When special inspections are required, all special inspectors must be registered to work within the City of Temecula.
Approval and Qualifications
The Building Official has the responsibility to ascertain that a Special/Deputy Inspector is qualified for the type of inspection required. Qualifications are measured against the following standards:
- Current International Code Conference (ICC) certification for the discipline in which the individual is requesting approval.
- Reinforced concrete Special Inspector; A.C.I. Certification as a Concrete Field Technician Grade I
- Must possess the ability to write legible and concise reports using the nomenclature of the building industry.
- The Building Official may require additional qualifications for specific reports pertaining to projects when deemed necessary.
- Special/Deputy Inspector must be certified in the discipline for which the inspection is to be performed.
Registration Process
What you will need to register
- Complete online application
- Current and applicable credentials with expiration dates
- A current City of Temecula Business License
Upon completion of online application and evidence of proper qualifications, the applicant will be added to the Special/Deputy Inspector database.
Registration will be valid until business license and/or expiration of credentials.

Site Verification The City of Temecula Building Inspector, when performing an inspection that requires a Special/Deputy Inspector will verify the Special Inspector's registration and review identification and credentials of the Special/Deputy Inspector.
