Fire Prevention Bureau
Inspections
All construction for which a permit is required shall be inspected and remain accessible and exposed until approved by a City Fire Inspector. The permit and approved set of plans must be onsite at all times throughout the construction process.
Scheduling an Inspection
It is each installing sub-contractor’s responsibility to make sure that all required inspections are made on a project, including both in-progress inspections and the final inspection for their permits. The sub-contractor must schedule and be on site for all inspections relating to their issued fire permit. All alarm contractors are required to pre-test their system prior to calling for any alarm inspections. The general contractor and/or business owner may call for the fire final/occupancy inspection associated with their building permit.
Inspection requests can be made daily from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Inspections requested made to the fire inspection line before 3:00pm will be returned the same business day. All requests made after 3:00pm, will be returned the following business day. All inspection requests are scheduled in the order in which they are received. The Fire Prevention Bureau typically schedules 24-48 hours out for all inspections. This time is dependent upon workload, and is subject to change without notice.
