A number of affordable housing projects within the City of Temecula have been financed using Redevelopment Agency funding, resulting in a direct local benefit to the community.
 The creation of affordable housing is one of the most important goals of Redevelopment.
The twelve affordable housing developments funded by the Temecula Redevelopment Agency provide for a total of 544 units comprised of 520 for rent multi-family units and 24 single-family private ownership homes. These one, two, and three bedroom residences ensure reasonable places to live at affordable rates for our low and moderate income families in our community. Additionally, the development of these 544 units created 432 construction jobs and will continue to contribute to the overall quality of life in Temecula. Quality affordable housing projects would not be possible without Redevelopment Agency assistance and monitoring.
 The Temecula Redevelopment Agency (RDA) has invested $33.7 million in affordable housing projects over the last 20 years. In collaboration with the residents and the business community, including Habitat for Humanity and other non-profit builders, this Redevelopment investment has assisted in the successful completion of twelve affordable housing developments to serve low and moderate income residents in Temecula. The residents of these developments are, among many others, our friends and neighbors, our school teachers, our independent elderly and our young couples just starting out
 The investment the RDA has made continues to not only provide quality housing at a reasonable price but also raises the value of surrounding properties by eliminating blight. RDA Investment in affordable housing is typically targeted for underutilized vacant pieces of land or where dilapidated “eye-sore” buildings are located. This strategic location helps to stimulate economic development in the neighborhood where the investment is made. And since the Temecula Redevelopment Agency does not have the power of Eminent Domain all of the Redevelopment Agency’s developments are completed through typical arms length real estate transactions.
Affordable Housing is crucial to the diversity of Temecula’s housing stock and allows for a quality safe, and secure housing option for all member of Temecula’s community.
