Council & Commission FAQ

When does the City Council meet?
The City Council meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings. City Council meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. for closed business sessions and at 7:00 p.m. for regular business. The regular business meetings are open to the public, and the public is encouraged to attend. The meetings are televised live on Verizon FiOS and Time Warner Cable both on channel 3, on Council meeting Tuesdays starting at 7:00 p.m. On alternate Tuesdays, a repeat of the previous week's Council meeting will be available on Temecula Outreach TV ch3 on Time Warner and Verizon.

Citizens may view the agenda online. The agenda with accompanying staff reports may be viewed in the City Clerk’s office after 4 p.m. on the Friday before each meeting.

Where does the City Council meet?
Meetings are held at the City Council Chambers in City Hall, located at 43200 Business Park Drive. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if you need special assistance to participate in a meeting, please contact the office of the City Clerk at 951-694-6444. Who is on the City Council?
The City Council is made up of five members, who are elected at-large, meaning there are no specific districts in which a candidate runs for office. Each of the Council members represents the entire constituency. The Mayor is elected by the members of the Council to preside for a one-year period of time. Council members are elected for four-year overlapping terms.

  • Old Town Local Review Board

How do I get appointed to a Commission?
When vacancies occur on a Commission, the City Council directs the City Clerk to advertise the openings. A notice is placed in the local newspapers, posted in the City’s regular posting places (City Hall, the Library, the Temecula Community Center on Pujol Street, and the Chamber of Commerce), and is included on the web site's Commission Positions page. Any citizen residing within the city limits is encouraged to complete a Commission application form at that time.
