Since June of 2009, it has been my great honor to serve as Temecula’s Police Chief. I am continually optimistic about the future of the City of Temecula and southwest Riverside County; few places are so scenic, and ripe with tradition and opportunity.
Temecula’s leaders, the Mayor, City Council and City Manager’s Office, have consistently demonstrated good stewardship by their dedication and wisdom in matters of public safety and fiscal responsibility. With their continued support, the Temecula Police Department will be successful in confronting the contemporary challenges faced by our community.
Law enforcement agencies statewide are dealing with the same financial realities faced by families, our local community, the nation and the world. Although a challenge, I see this as an opportunity to reevaluate our priorities, the manner we have done business in the past, and look for ways to work smarter. To this end, the Temecula Police Department has and will continue to implement new technologies to enhance our ability to educate and inform the public, deploy resources, and apprehend criminals, while maintaining a continued focus on youth outreach, prevention and accountability programs.
My service in the City of Temecula caps approximately 25 years of public service within the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, having worked patrol, corrections, special enforcement, and the Professional Standards Bureau. I have been married 27 years and am a father of six children. Combined, these experiences have given me the understanding that good citizens and true law enforcement professionals view their position as a calling to defend the community and its values.
As I lead the Temecula Police Department, I am grateful for the leadership example set for me by Sheriff Stan Sniff and his emphasis on selfless service. Sheriff Sniff's leadership coupled with my personal and professional experiences have solidified my commitment to providing outstanding law enforcement service to the citizens of the City of Temecula. It is my goal to make the Temecula Police Department’s hallmark an ever increasing philosophy of helpful, courteous and professional public service.
Sincerely,
Andre M. O’Harra, Chief of Police Temecula Police Department (951)696-3030 AOHARRA@riversidesheriff.org
