Citizens can now Register for Emergency Notification
The recent fires in Southern California validated the City’s investment in an emergency notification (Reverse 911) system. A key benefit of this system is the ability to import Verizon phone numbers directly to a live database. Unfortunately this database is limited to only Verizon land line telephone numbers. A recent upgrade to the City’s system will allow citizens to register and input their own cellular or Voice over IP (VoIP) numbers. Citizens who would like to be contacted on cell or VoIP phones will be capable of registering these numbers directly to the City’s website starting on December 11, 2007. This service is only being offered to City of Temecula residences and businesses. Registration is available on the city website at www.cityoftemecula.org/911

Mayor Chuck Washington said that, “This important upgrade to our emergency response system ensures that even more of our citizens have access to the City’s emergency notifications system. We couldn’t be more excited about this new opportunity to connect with our constituents.”
