Tryouts and hiring will occur in the Spring.
The City of Temecula is looking for dedicated, hard-working, water-oriented people (at least 16 years of age) to work as lifeguards for the 2013 summer season. We will be seeking qualified individuals for Lifeguard, Senior Guard, and Lead Guard positions. (We are not currently hiring).
Tryout Information
You MUST be present at the tryout in order to be eligible for a position.

>> For our selection process, we conduct a tryout first (where we will also collect applications and copies of certifications), then conduct interviews, and then make final selections.
Tryout Criteria
The following is the tryout criteria that will be tested on the tryout date. If you are unable to successfully complete any portion, you will not be eligible for a position.

Swim 100 yards in under 1 minute and 30 seconds. |

2. |
Tread water for 5 minutes using legs only. |
|
|
3. |
Retrieve a brick from the bottom of the pool. |
|
|
4. |
Rescue an active and submerged victim, remove the victim from the pool, and perform CPR on a mannequin directly after the rescue. |

|
5. |
A written test covering Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED For The Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Title 22 information. |

Qualifications
The following certifications are required and must be current. Please include a photo copy of the front and back (if applicable) to the tryout.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training American Red Cross CPR/AED, or equivalent American Red Cross Title 22 Course, or equivalent *American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, or equivalent *for Swim Instructors ONLY
[If you have any other applicable certifications, please bring those as well.]
Application Information
To apply for a position, an application must be completed at or before tryouts.

What should I bring to tryouts?
Make sure you have the following items with you on tryout day.
- Copies of your certifications - All information needed to fill out an application (such as employment history information and education information), if applicable - A bathing suit and towel - Your pocket mask - A pen and pencil
