CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS
CHANGE YOUR BATTERIES
March 11, 2012 is when daylight savings time begins. We will all be changing our clocks and this is a great time to test and change the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES!
According to the National Fire Protection Association, between 2003 and 2006, more than 66 percent of home fire deaths occurred in homes without a working smoke alarm. A working smoke alarm significantly increases your chances of surviving a deadly home fire.
For more information on the importance of a properly working smoke alarm please read the fact sheet provided by the National Fire Protection Association.

CARBON MONOXIDE, THE SILENT KILLER!
Carbon Monoxide is the the most toxic substance you'll come into contact with in your daily life - in your home, at work, garage, car and boat. Do not be one of the statistics!
There are hundreds of fatalities every year from Carbon Monoxide and just a small amount of Carbon Monoxide in your living area can cause major health problems or even death.
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless and toxic gas. Because it is impossible to see, taste or smell the toxic fumes, CO can kill you before you are aware it is in your home. At lower levels of exposure, CO causes mild effects that are often mistaken for the flu. These symptoms include headaches, dizziness, disorientation, nausea and fatigue. The effects of CO exposure can vary greatly from person to person depending on age, overall health and the concentration and length of exposure.
For more information on the new law requiring the installation of carbon monoxide detectors in homes and apartments and for details on the dangers of this silent killer, please read the fact sheet provided by CAL FIRE.
