Residents of Temecula fall under the jurisdiction of several different law enforcement agencies.
Temecula contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for police services. The Temecula Police Department is a progressive agency with a proactive approach that not only responds to problems, but emphasizes crime prevention as well. The Sheriff's Department handles all criminal matters in unincorporated areas, and provides incarceration facilities for all offenders.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the federal law enforcement agency responsible for maintaining the physical security of our national borders. The Temecula Station is responsible for an operational area covering 3,300 square miles. They staff a checkpoint on Highway I-15 approximately two miles south of Temecula which controls the flow of undocumented workers and contraband into the United States.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has jurisdiction over interstate highways, state highways, unincorporated areas and state government buildings including employees and visitors. The CHP is also responsible for traffic enforcement and traffic investigation, and provides backup as needed to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
