 Old Town Temecula Becomes a Patchwork Quilt
During 13th Annual Outdoor Quilt Show
A colorful American craft turns the eaves throughout Old Town Temecula into a giant patchwork quilt when hundreds of handmade quilts are displayed Saturday, October 1 at the Valley of the Mist Quilters Guild Outdoor Quilt Show.
Quilt fans can get an early start to the quilt show during two-week Quilt Walk. The Quilt Walk will feature unique quilts chosen to complement different Old Town Temecula stores, and will be displayed inside Old Town Temecula stores beginning September 17.
Rose Hughes will be the featured quilter. Hughes is the founder and executive director of Quilts on the Wall: Fiber Artists, a professional member of Studio Art Quilt Association, an author and fabric art instructor. She has office installations of her work in Vashon, Washington, Santa Clarita and Panorama City Kaiser Permanent offices, and exhibitions in numerous galleries on the Pacific Coast. She teaches and lectures at quilt guilds and conferences nationwide.
Old Town Temecula's Outdoor Quilt Show features hundreds of colorful quilts displayed throughout Old Town Temecula. The event draws spectators from all over Southern California. Many of the visitors are quilters who examine the pieces for their design and patterns as well as artistry. Quilts will be on display October 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and cover the six blocks of Old Town Front Street.
Small quilts will be on sale at Old Town Temecula's Town Square/Temecula Civic Center, 41000 Main Street, on Saturday. There will also be a Guild Boutique in the adjacent Conference Center. A large quilt live auction will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the quad of the civic center.
